With a father that flew fighter planes during the Vietnam War it had always been obvious to Seeley what he wanted to become, an Army Ranger. After high school he immediately went into the system. But being an Army Ranger wasn’t as glorious as he thought it would be. After watching his friends die and getting kidnapped and tortured, Seeley went home with a lot of physical and emotional scars. Back in the military Seeley was a sniper and an expert knife thrower, which has left him with many skills, enough for him to become a part of the FBI. As a coping mechanism after separating from the military and leaving a stressful, war-time environment, Seeley likes to gamble and has build up a debt already. Some say he has an addiction, but Seeley doesn’t agree first. Only when he lost everything, he starts a therapy to overcome his addiction. Only his close friends get to call Seeley by his first name, as he prefers to be called Booth. He finds that his last name sounds more manly, whereas Seeley does not.
Some of his time at work Seeley spends on Lance Sweets’ couch, to help him deal with the things he’s seen and witnessed across the globe. Because he doesn’t believe in therapy, he always likes to make fun of Sweets and how young he looks, even though Sweets is usually right about him which is something Seeley can’t stand. He is a religious man by nature, having been an altar boy as a child, and is still a practicing Roman Catholic, seeking to atone for the lives he took as a sniper while an Army Ranger and since through his work in the FBI. At some point in his young age, he met Rebecca. The relationship developed rather good and after a few months Rebecca was pregnant. Booth with his high sense of responsibility and his firmly held believe, asked her to marry him, but she denied. Though both stayed together as a couple, even if it was more for the sake of giving their son, Parker, a strong and normal family background. Booth is a great father just as much as Rebecca was a great mother. Both were enthusiastic in their jobs as much as in their roles of parents, though the engagement as a couple was rather non-existent. But it was a silent agreement between the both of them, they loved each other, but they weren’t in love anymore. All was going as planned and Parker grew up a great and intelligent boy. Booth loves his job at the FBI in Washington but as he climbed up the career ladder, he was asked to work at the FBI headquarters in Quantico, Virginia. This marked a watershed in Booth life. Rebecca wouldn’t agree to follow him there and kept Parker living with her, not to break his routine in life. The first months in Quantico were hard for Booth, he missed his son and kept himself occupied with as much work as possible. If he had known what turn his life was about to take, he’d probably reconsidered his choices, but it was to late. When he started in Quantico, his first case was a serial killer, that was haunting him all the time. They just wouldn’t get the final hint to find out who he was. Little did he know that the serial killer, Jason Conlin, did know him very well by now, as well as his family situation. Booth never talks about what happened in that night, not even to Sweets, even though he is supposed to help him overcome everything. All that is known about that horrible night, is that Jason Conlin captured Rebecca and Parker and made Booth trade himself for them. Sure Booth didn’t hesitate a second, thinking he could at least safe the life of his son and Rebecca. But it was only a trap that he blindly fell for. Rebecca died that night, so did Jason Conlin, Booth and Parker made it barely out alive. Parker was sedated and doesn’t remember anything but the man capturing him and his mom, but Booth…the nightmares are haunting him and changed him deeply. He keeps up the cocky and funny façade up, but nobody knows about the scares that are hidden underneath that. The FBI gave Booth a time out, to put it nicely and asked him to spend time with his son and get back on track. But all that he really wanted was to stop the villains from hurting others like he was hurt. That’s how he came across a group of people, called The Coalition. Not only are they the most oddest group of people he has ever met, but they know about things, that he only knew as myths and legends. But it gave him a sense of life back, other than taking care of Parker, who now lived with him. |
