My name means “re-birth” so I guess it’s only fitting that on a trip through the beautiful city of Paris with my family when I was 19 lead me to become one of the undead. A vampire, of all things. There isn’t much from the past, meaning from my human years that I remember now. I was engaged to be married, that is about all I remember. I roamed the streets of Paris after my “awakening” with a man called Erik. He was the one that changed me but honestly I hated him. He was not a nice man; he tortured poor humans, made them beg to be freed only to chase them down like wild animals and make a mess of them once he had fed from them.
It wasn’t until one fateful night that he got what was coming to him. A group of robed men caught up with him and I. I was spared as I only fed on someone when I had to, it wasn’t an act I liked to do but I had to survive. They spoke a few words before he was ripped to pieces. He’d left too many bodies to be discovered. They said he put them all at risk. I was taken to a hotel to speak to Master Marcus as the robed men called him. The man was tall, somber looking if you will. I was told they did not offer refuge to law breakers but as I had not been the one doing the evil things Erik had been I was being spared, for now. Marcus said he would like to take me back to the castle he shared with his brothers and teach me the ways of the Volturi. I really wasn’t in a place to say no. I was now alone, not real sure of what to do with myself. After arriving at the castle, I was taken before Aro. He was a shrill older vampire, did not have kind eyes as Marcus did, he seemed to only be interested in me after he took my hand. He saw a great power within me. As I pulled my hand away from him I was grabbed and held in place, in front of him. Marcus tried to stop him, telling Aro he was going to teach me the ways of the Volturi. He would make sure I didn’t become like the others but that didn’t happen. Aro had a vampire named Chelsea come in and after she was in the room I felt a willfulness to be at Aro’s side. I tried to fight it but it was not something I could fight. That day however changed many things in the castle. Aro took vengeance out on Marcus by disposing of his wife; so it seemed at the time. This left Marcus broken. I learned that day to do just as I was asked and wait for my time to escape. It would have to happen one day. I hoped at least. Today things are once again changing in the castle, though I am not sure yet again if things are changing for the best or not. My willingness to be at Aro’s side however is fading. It seems that since Chelsea left her bindings are starting to fade away. There could be an uprising in the works but for now no one is saying much. I guess it’s all a guessing game now. |
